The Indian SUV market is getting ready for something big — Mahindra has teased its upcoming 7-seater electric SUV, the Mahindra XEV 9S. This new EV is expected to be a major step forward in Mahindra’s electric strategy, especially for families who want more space and still prefer an electric option. With the XEV 9S, Mahindra is moving beyond its five-seater EV lineup and targeting buyers who need a wider cabin, a third row, and more comfort.

Mahindra XEV 9S Features
The teaser doesn’t reveal everything, but based on Mahindra’s EV roadmap, we already have a good idea of what the XEV 9S may offer :
- INGLO skateboard platform – The same advanced EV platform used in other Mahindra electric SUVs. It supports a flat floor, better interior space, and bigger battery options.
- True 7-seat layout – This is the biggest highlight. The XEV 9S directly solves the lack of a third row seen in previous Mahindra EVs.
- Modern tech & safety features – Mahindra is expected to use features similar to the XEV 9e, like triple screens, wireless smartphone connectivity, and Level-2 ADAS.
For example, the XEV 9e comes with a 79 kWh battery, 282 bhp power, 380 Nm torque, and DC fast charging up to 175 kW — so the XEV 9S should offer similar or better numbers. - Better space and packaging – Since Mahindra uses the same platform across models, development becomes quicker and more cost-effective. This usually helps in adding more features without pushing the price too high.
Mahindra XEV 9S Range and Battery
Mahindra has not yet released the exact battery size or range of the XEV 9S. But we can make an educated guess based on the XEV 9e, which comes with a 79 kWh LFP battery and offers up to 656 km MIDC range.
Since the XEV 9S is bigger and has 7 seats, it will likely get :
- A 70 kWh+ battery pack
- A real-world range of over 500 km
- Fast-charging capability that can take the battery from 20–80% in around 20 minutes (similar to existing Mahindra EVs)
The teaser clearly suggests that the XEV 9S will share the same platform as other INGLO-based EVs, so strong range and fast charging are almost guaranteed. Exact numbers will be officially released at launch.

Mahindra XEV 9S Price in India
Mahindra has not revealed the price yet.
However, the pricing of the XEV 9e gives us a good reference. The XEV 9e starts in the low ₹20-lakh (ex-showroom) bracket for the base 59 kWh version. Since the XEV 9S is bigger and offers a third row, it is expected to cost more.
A realistic expected starting price :₹25 lakh – ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom) . This may vary depending on battery size, features, and final variant lineup.

Mahindra XEV 9S Launch Date
The XEV 9S will be presented by Mahindra on 27 November at the “Scream Electric” launch event . During the reveal, we expect Mahindra to announce :

After the reveal, the SUV is expected to launch in India within the next 6 to 12 months, depending on production schedules and component sourcing.
